I just realized you started publishing here, welcome.

As a parent who saw my rules "melt away" March 2020, I too have not been able to right the ship. 50% increase seems even low.

Looking forward to you book.

It’s not lost on me that Albert Bourla is a veterinarian. It’s clear that the powers that be see the population as a herd to be managed. Sedentary lifestyles, food, pharma and screen addictions are a great way to keep the herd docile and easy to manage. A weak minded and physically limited population is far easier to corral than the opposite. It’s also a highly profitable population to “service.” This increase in screen time is a feature not a bug for the groups at the top benefiting.

I don’t think for a second anyone in a position of authority to solve this will be lifting a finger any time soon. Curing this is going to have to start with individual action from the bottom. I’m optimistic-ish. Not because I have any reason to be, but because surely we must be reaching some kind of bottom, and getting to the bottom is a good first step!

During the pandemic, in areas like NY and California, kids were shut out of sports, extracurriculars-- every possible activity required masking and vaccine passports. Kids got the message that they were unimportant. The only place to see others full unmasked faces were on screens. How terribly sad and lonely. The algorithms are set up to addict kids (and adults) to devices - as Nicholas Kardaras wrote, screens are digital heroin: https://nypost.com/2016/08/27/its-digital-heroin-how-screens-turn-kids-into-psychotic-junkies/. Thank you for writing about this crisis- it is nothing less than that. Hopefully the hearings in Washington this week will prompt the federal government to begin regulating the tech giants.

If only there were people who were warning about the negative consequences of such policies before and during them being implemented. That would’ve been nice.

5.4 more hours per day--that's as much as some people sleep in per day.

Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do.

Or, maybe they do?

Don’t have kids, but my screen time increased in the same proportion during pandemic and hasn’t gone back down😮. Would love to change that.

We know that higher screen time contributes to overweight and obesity in kids. Need a massive reorientation to real life activity.
